Driving on the island:

The Island of Mull is mainly single track roads and does slow the average speed that you would take on the mainland. The beauty of these roads of course are that every mile takes you along and by some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland, so be prepared to keep to the code of single track driving  Two main features being always to check your rear view mirror and if traffic behind you always use the passing place on the left of you to allow vehicles to overtake. It may well be one of the islands emergency vehicles on route to help in an emergency, please never draw into the lay-by on your right hand side. For fuel you will find there are 5 petrol stations throughout the island and breakdown services if needed.
